WHO WRITES THIS STUFF?

London Cycling Diary is written by me, Kim Forrester, aka kimbofo, a 40-something expat Australian, who fell in love with cycling in the British summer of 2005. Until then, I thought cycling across the capital was something only brave or foolhardy people did.

But when I hit upon the idea that I might lose some weight, get fit and save money on tube fares if I cycled the 6.5 miles to work every day, I swallowed my fear and just got on with it. It was a life-changing experience.

WHY WRITE A BLOG?

For years I had travelled underground, oblivious to the ways in which London awakened above ground every morning and came alive at night. It gave me a fresh and entirely new perspective on my adopted city.

This blog was started in August 2005 to record all the amazing things I saw on my daily commute from West London to South London.

And it also gave me an outlet to vent my frustrations, at motorists and cyclists alike!

ARE YOU AN EXPERT CYCLIST?

Far from it! I’m simply an enthusiastic one who wants to share the bicycling love! I truly believe if I can cycle through London traffic with confidence then anyone can.

THIS IS MY FIRST VISIT TO LONDON CYCLING DIARY, WHERE SHOULD I START?

You might like to read my first post here, which explains how I was initially petrified of cycling London’s streets. But within three weeks I had turned into an adrenalin junkie.

Then it’s just a matter of working your way through my archives.

You can also subscribe to my feed, so that you never miss a post. (I’d recommend this, as I’m prone to long absences from the bike owing to health issues and occasional bouts of sheer laziness, so I only update this blog when I cycle regularly.)
